LAJOS DUDAS lives at the Bodensee (Lake Constance) and counts among the few European jazz musicians to be mentioned in Joachim Ernst Berendt’s «Great Jazz Book», where his ‘tender gentle free-tonal playing’ is praised.
From a background in classical music Dudas had made a sensitive transition to swing and modern jazz. He found wide recognition with his entry «Urban Blues» at the 11. Competition for Jazz Compositions in Monaco in 1982. At the <Top People Poll >, the famous international Jazz Forum, he regulary took top places.
In the studio the clarinet maestro is feared for his perfectionism; the listener need not worry about that, but can relish his lovely clarinet tune - not a predictable beauty, but one that is full of surprise.
