Interzone is an international musicians & composers pool that plays contemporary, European jazz.

Interzone was founded in 2003, and combines the talents of some of the leading jazz performers in the German and Dutch jazz scene today. Interzone is dedicated to playing the original compositions of its members in a larger instrumental and musical setting.

At this point in time, Interzone has ten members and performs its compositions in a nonet setting. As more members will be invited to join the Interzone, a variety of instrumental settings (from octet to small big band) can be employed to perform the music.

The first official CD by Interzone has been recorded in March, April and May of 2006. This release, published in November 2006, contains the jazz suite Terra Incognita, based on poems of Dutch poet Ton Luiting.

The suite has been written for jazz nonet in different instrumental settings, and is performed by Interzone and Ton Luiting. Terra Incognita is produced by Jan Huydts and Jean Paul Steeghs, recorded, edited and mixed by Tijmen Zinkhaan, mastered by Darius van Helfteren, published by Interzone's own publishing house Gomy Music, distributed through internet exclusively by Toonbank Records and Gomy Music, and financially supported by the Dutch ThuisKopie Fonds.
